

Mary “Brenda” (Sheridan) Flynn, 85 of Sandwich formerly of Hanover, died December 25, 2020 at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich surrounded by her children. Born in Boston on August 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Bernard B. and Clare A. (Gorman) Sheridan. She was a high school graduate of Notre Dame Academy (Roxbury) Class of 1953, Boston State Teachers College Class of 1957 and Cambridge College: Master of Education Class of 1993. Brenda had a 37 year teaching career in Hanover Public Schools, as a first and second grade teacher at the Salmond and Cedar Schools. She had a famous saying, “As long as you have a book you are never alone.”
Brenda was an educator not only in the classroom but in how she lived her life. Her greatest joys in life were her role as mother to her 3 children and “Grammie Flynn” to her 9 precious grandchildren, whom she delighted in reading stories with and making her famous brownies and meatballs. She taught us all by her unwavering devotion to her faith, her family, her friends and her community. She believed that with faith, love and a little bit of humor all would be fine!
Brenda was the beloved wife of the late William J. Flynn, Jr. Devoted mother of William J. “BJ” Flynn, III and his wife Jeanne of North Easton, David G. Flynn and his wife Kim of Hanover, and Maryclare Flynn of Sandwich. Cherished grandmother of Brendan Joseph, Katherine Martha, and Caroline Mary, of North Easton, and Stephanie Catherine, Patrick Joseph, Liam Sheridan, Erin Elizabeth, Emily Grace and MaryKate Flynn of Hanover. Sister of the late Catherine T. Earle.
Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St. Rte. 53, Hanover, on Tuesday, December 29th from 4-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St. Rte. 139, Hanover, on Wednesday at 10am. Burial to follow in Hanover Center Cemetery.
