Mary M. Vannice

On Saturday, April 3rd, 2021, just before dawn, Mary went to God after a very brief battle with cancer.

Mary was born April 22, 1948 in Queens, NY to Edward and Mary (Leurele) Reardon. She lived in New York until her marriage to Bob on February 10th, 1973. Together, they moved to Illinois and settled in Barrington to raise their three children. Mary was actively involved with St. Anne Catholic Community and was most proud of her work as a bereavement minister, an RCIA sponsor, and a volunteer with Project Hope. Mary retired from Trustmark insurance after 17 years and her dreams came true when she moved to Cape Cod in 2016 just as her grandson Campbell was born. Mary found her community immediately, getting involved with her Parish - Christ the King, taking on the role of President for the Sea Oaks Condominium Association, volunteering for the food pantry, and sitting on the board for St. Joseph House. Mary never met a stranger and was immediately taken in by a wonderful group of friends that included her in everything from wine nights to a trip to Poland.

Mary loved finding sea glass at the beach and watching the waves hit the shore, sharing a bottle of Prosecco with friends while laughing, eating a whole pizza when she was only going to have one slice, facetime with her granddaughter Sadie, making Thanksgiving dinner while catching glimpses the parade on TV, spring flowers - irises, tulips, and hydrangeas, reminiscing with childhood friends, feeding the hungry through her parish food pantry, clothing the poor through her self-titled "Captain Underpants Project", listening to Billy Joel in her kitchen, praying the rosary, walking down Main Street in Magic Kingdom, Uncle Michael's meatballs, "Monk" and "Everyone Loves Raymond", mimosas at The Wave, making breakfast for her grandchildren, buying Christmas ornaments, the Easter Tridium, sunshine on her face, ice cream after the beach, book club, and the bright color of fall leaves.

But most of all, Mary (Momo) had a fierce love for her family and dear friends. She will be missed for her grace, kindness, compassion, patience, wit, the way she could light up a room, her contagious laugh, and her ability to find and point out the best in every person and every situation.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Edward, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Nikki Vannice, and her husband Bob. Mary is survived by her daughter and her husband, Kristen and Russ Clancy, her son and his wife, Rob and Anna Vannice, and her daughter Susan Vannice. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren that were the light of her life, Charlotte Rose, Lily Grace, Gemma Clover, Campbell King, and Sadie King. Her sister and brother-in-law Anne and Michael Bueti and treasured nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 9 am on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 at St. Mary's Church, 392 Hanover Street, Hanover Ma. All whom loved Mary are invited to come and celebrate her life with bright colors and laughter.
