

Maureen Baker, PhD. sadly lost her battle with cancer January 10, 2012. She is survived by her three children, Marikate, Patrick, Erin, her seven grandchildren, and her sister Marialis Seehorn. Maureen received her bachelor's degree at St. Lawrence University in New York, her Masters at Potsdam State University in New York, and her Doctorate from Indiana University. Maureen was an innovative and inspiring foreign language professor Emeritus. Her proudest accomplishments, besides her children, included her development of a French education series, Madame, Merci, and Mou, her dedicated work on the St. Lawrence University Alumni Council, her research on the brain and learning, and lastly the publication of her first novel titled; "Outrageous Hero." She was a profoundly beautiful and compassionate soul who will be missed by so many whose lives she so deeply touched. Visiting hours are omitted. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St., Rte 139, Hanover on Friday at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to: St. Lawrence University, the "Maureen Collins Scholarship Fund", care of Thomas Pynchon.
