Nola Webster Meiggs

Nola Webster (LaBelle) Meiggs, 78 of Kingston, died on January 19, 2014. A graduate of Oliver Ames High School and Chamberlain School of Retailing, she was a long term resident of Hanson before moving to Kingston of 1983. Following graduation from Chamberlain, she worked as a display manager for Sheridans Department Store in Quincy. She belonged to the Brockton Assembly of Rainbow Girls and sang in the Rainbow-De Molay musical shows for several years. In the 1960's she was a member of the Fearsome Threesome, a zany singing group that preformed for the Hanson PTA shows. As a charter member of the Hanson-Pembroke Mothers Club, she served 8 years on the executive board including 2 years as president. She was also a member of the Hanson Visiting Nurse Association and served 3 terms as secretary of the Hanson Republican Town Committee. For 13 years, she was a columnist and reporter for the Silver Lake News which is now part of the MPG Newspaper Chain. Her columns Silver Linings and High Wide covered Hanson news, social scene and her fashion column the Clothesline. She and her husband, Russell, shared a lifelong interest in antiques. In 1971, they opened an antiques and auction business which they ran for many years. They collected paintings, folk art, and country furniture. Their house in Kingston was featured on the Jones River Historical Society Christmas Tour and their paintings have been on loan to the Duxbury Art Museum. She is survived by her husband Russell, a daughter Kimberly Meiggs-Carney of Duxbury, two sons Gary Mansfield of New Milford, CT, Scott Mansfield of Arnold, CA, and three granddaughters Samantha, Avery, and Sydney. Visiting hours omitted. Interment will be held at a later date.
