Peter Thomas Gallagher

May 17, 1941 – August 26, 2023

Peter Thomas Gallagher, 82, of Halifax Massachusetts passed away in his home with his family by his side on August 26, 2023. Peter was born in 1941 and was the son of Charles and Dorethea Gallagher of Randolph Massachusetts and was one of eleven children, of which he is survived by Michael Gallagher. Peter graduated from Randolph High School in 1959. While there, he met Joan Kerr Fraser, his high school sweetheart. They married on June 6, 1964 and Joan would be faithfully by his side for the rest of his life.

Peter and Joan had their first apartment in Stoughton, before buying the home in Halifax in which he would live for the rest of his life. Peter and Joan had four children. His son, Peter Brian Gallagher “Petey”, who passed away in 1976 from Ewing Sarcoma and whom he always cherished, adored, and will lie with for eternity. He is survived by his children Lisa (“Gallagher”) Golden and her husband Paul, Kimberly (“Gallagher”) Byrne and her husband Christopher, and Matthew Gallagher and his wife Lauren, who will continue to carry on his legacy. He is also succeeded by the grandchildren that he adored and left an indelible mark upon: Carlene Byrne, Alexandra Byrne, Ryan Golden, Sean Gallagher, Quinn Gallagher, and Andrew Gallagher.

Peter held a myriad of jobs during his life ranging from the IRS, a rubber company, and the fish pier. He was a die-hard Boston sports fan who enjoyed reading the newspaper, gardening and landscaping his home, World War II history, and especially his family.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held to honor Peter’s life at Sullivan Funeral Home in Hanson - 2 Maquan St., on Thursday August 31, 2023 from 4 pm to 7 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 11 am at Holy Apostles Parish - St. Joseph the Worker in Hanson - 1 Maquan St. Burial will immediately follow at Central Cemetery in Halifax.
