
Rev. George J. Williams, 90, a former Rockland resident died Wednesday Morning, May 1, 2002 in the Regina Cleri Home for Retired Priests in Boston. Son of the late Samuel R. and Helen M. ?NELLIE? Cashman Williams, he was born in Rockland on July 20, 1911. He was raised and educated in Rockland and was a Graduate of Boston College and St. John's Seminary. Fr. Williams was ordained on May 3, 1939 in the Cathedral of the Holy Crass in Boston by the Most Rev. Francis Spellman, then an Auxiliary Bishop of Boston. Fr. Williams served at Our Lady Help of Christians in Newton, then at St. Raphel's in West Medford, then at St. Charles Borromeo in Waltham, then at St. Agatha's in Milton and was the Pastor of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Tyngsborough until his retirement in 1985. He has been a resident of the Regina Cleri Home in Boston sine his retirement. Mr. Williams was a Former Member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks, Rotary and Moose Clubs. He enjoyed Golf. He is survived by a sister, Dorothy H. Early of Rockland, 2 nephews, Gerald J. Early of Rockland and Edward Williams of Braintree and 2 nieces, Mary Ann Early of Brockton and Gail Brousseau of Rockland. His Eminence, Bernard Cardinal Law, will be the Principal Celebrant of the Funeral Mass to be held on Friday, May 3, 2002 at 10 AM in Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street in Rockland. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland. Visiting hours will be on Thursday AFTERNOON from 1:30 PM until 3:30 PM in the Regina Cleri Home, 60 William Cardinal O'Connell Way in Boston and on Thursday EVENING from 6-9 PM in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 41-45 East Water Street in ROCKLAND. Memorial donations may be made to the Regina Cleri Home, 60 William Cardinal O'Connell Way, Boston, MA.
