

Richard A. Berg, 78, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at the Life Care Center of South Shore. Born in Quincy, he was the son of the late Arthur “Bud” Berg and the late Elinor Berg, and was also predeceased by his stepmother, Helen Berg. He lived a long life marked by his dedication to his family and strong work ethic.
Rick was a proud member of the inaugural graduating class of 1965 from South Shore Vocational Technical High School and a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was also a dedicated member of the Hanover Fire Department, serving as a part-time Firefighter/EMT. Over the years, he worked as a warehouse manager in various roles, and in his later years, he enjoyed working as a bus driver for the Town of Norwell Public Schools. In his free time, Rick enjoyed building model railroads and spending time camping with his family in their RV.
He was the devoted husband of nearly 50 years to Roberta “Robbie” Berg. He was also a loving father to Richard Berg of Quincy, Melissa Sierra of Hanover and her husband, Guillermo, and Erick Berg of Raynham and his wife, Jenna. Rick was predeceased by his sister, Mildred Lanigan, and is survived by his brother, Steven Berg and his wife, Karyl, of Goffstown, New Hampshire. He was a proud grandfather to Addison, Makaela, Jack, and Luke, who brought him great joy, and a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The Berg family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Hanover Fire Department for their unwavering care and professionalism over the years, and extend a special and sincere thank you to the staff of Life Care Center of the South Shore for the compassion, kindness, and dignity they showed Rick in his final days. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
Visitation will be held in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Hanover, on May 13, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place on May 14, 2026, at 11:00 am. A Burial to follow in Center Cemetery in Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rick’s memory to the Lewy Body Dementia Resource Center or to the Joan Frey Memorial Ambulance Fund, care of the Hanover Fire Department, 32 Center Street, Hanover, MA 02339.
