Richard "Richie" Buonvicino

Richard Buonvicino, 77, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026. Richie is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Elaine, his daughter Cara Buonvicino and her husband Andrew Clemens and two grandchildren Eloise and Daphne, his son Nick Buonvicino and his fiancé Samantha Conkey. He is also survived by his sister Joan King and was predeceased by his parents Rocco and Marion Buonvicino.

Richie was born and raised in the Wollaston neighborhood of Quincy. He attended Quincy public schools, graduating from North Quincy High in 1966 and attended Suffolk University in Boston. Richie entered the United States Navy in 1968 serving until 1971. He was deployed during the Mediterranean Crisis in 1970. Richie and Elaine started and ran a successful direct marketing business for over 40 years. He was also a successful salesman in the children’s toy industry, a job that he loved.

Richie especially loved that he was able to raise his family at his home in Duxbury, Massachusetts. He was an adoring grandfather to Cara’s daughters. Lovingly called Pops by his little Eloise and Daphne. Pops enjoyed drawing, reading, and playing games with his girls. He was especially proud of his son, Nick, for taking the leap into owning his own business and loved seeing his hard work pay off. He admired Nick’s perseverance, was always eager to hear how things were going, and happily shared his excitement with others. Watching his son achieve a lifelong goal brought him tremendous joy.

He was a devoted and loyal friend to many, always willing to share his kindness, time and sense of humor. His laugh could fill an auditorium. He loved all sports, especially watching his children play youth and high school sports. He was at every Duxbury High School hockey game, cheering on his son from the stands. He loved music, art and was a student of history.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Sullivan Funeral Home in Hanover. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 20th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Duxbury, with a burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
