Richard "Dickie" Wassell, of Hanson, passed away on September 20, 2025 at the age of 69. He was the beloved son of the late Ann (Stillman) and Alexander Wassell Dickie was born on October 6, 1955 and raised in Hanson where his memory will undoubtedly leave a mark on the town he loved. Dickie was always quick with a joke or a fun little known fact. He loved entertaining people and making them laugh. He had the ability to turn any time spent with him into a memorable one. A proud hunter, avid fisherman, and lover of the outdoors. He was able to identify any native plant species, navigate by the sun, and made a venison stew that would warm the soul. He was a skilled woodworker, known for his wooden reindeer that he crafted by hand. A piece of himself left in homes and hearts across the community. "Often imitated, never duplicated." May his memory continue to live on with every story told, every laugh shared, and every song that is turned up way too loud.
Dickie was the adoring Father of Brianna Wassell and very proud Grandfather of Lucas Kelly. Brother of Joan Dmitruk of Hanson. Uncle of Kim Cunningham of Kingston. Friend and mentor to those who became family, Chelle and Eric.
