Born in Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of South Weymouth, Hanson and Hopkinton, MA, Richard was the loving husband of Elaine Walker of Norwell, MA, for 40 years. A devoted father to his two children, Doug (Theresa) Walker and Vikki (Paul) Offria, as well as, his four stepchildren, Susan Haskins, Bill (Debbie) Haskins, Terry (Tammy) Haskins and Timm (Nancy) Haskins. Nothing brought Papa more pride than his family, which grew to include eight grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was also a loving brother to Chris and the late, Mildred Walker.
Papa had a wonderful way of finding happiness in the simple things. He loved making jewelry, playing solitaire, and especially playing cribbage, one of his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed going to the senior center, where he loved entertaining and spending time with the community, playing cards, sharing a laugh, and, of course, finding someone ready for a good game of cribbage.
Those who knew Papa will also remember the words he so often shared: “God bless.” It was more than just a favorite saying—it was simply Papa, and a little expression of the kindness and warmth he carried with him.
Papa Walker will be remembered for his love of family, his sense of humor, and the joy he brought to those around him. His long life touched many generations, and the memories and love he leaves behind will remain with his family forever.
God bless, Papa. You were deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A funeral mass will be held at 9AM on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Our Lady of the Angels, 392 Hanover St., Hanover, MA, followed by a private burial at Fern Hill Cemetery, 784 High St., Hanson, MA.
