On May 14, 2022 Robert “Brian” Horgan, age 66 years, of Plymouth, ascended the Stairway to Heaven after traveling the Highway to Hell that was Lewy Body Dementia. Brian passed at home surrounded by his loving family; his wish was to pass peacefully in his home and his family was honored to be able to fulfill that wish for him.
He was the husband of Diane (Pomerleau) Horgan; they were two months shy of celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on July 17th. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Anna “Louise” (Phipps Horgan) Emond and stepfather Roger L. Emond. Born in Taunton on Friday January 13, 1956, he worked as a vocational instructor at Paul A. Dever State School where he met his wife Diane. Brian later worked at Clean Harbors for many years before opening his own business, East Coast Tank. Upon his early retirement due to chronic back pain, Brian’s son took over the business, rebranding it East Coast Tank and Trailer. Brian was an avid music fan, taking many of his friends and family to live concerts. Though the Doobie Brothers were his favorite band, his favorite concert moment was taking both his mother and mother-in-law to see Paul McCartney at the Garden; a first concert for both women who were in their 70’s! Brian enjoyed fishing, and spent many summers on his boat on Big Sandy Pond in Plymouth. During a lengthy hospitalization earlier in the year, Brian’s close companion of 17 years Little Debbie the dog fell sick and crossed the rainbow bridge. He was a collector of tattoos, Corvettes, and good times. Brian lived hard and loved harder.
He will be sadly missed by his children Tara (Henault) Martel and her husband Joe of Seekonk, Erin (Horgan) Murad and her husband Rick of Hanson, Patrick Brian and his wife Heather of Sagamore Beach; his grandchildren and lights of his life Dylan Martel, Roger and Penelope Murad; and the mother and nana of his oldest child, Anne and Yvonne Henault of Taunton. Brian is also survived by his mother-in-law Grace Pomerleau, formerly of Brockton, many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his best friend and closest thing he had to a brother, Tommy Elmes of Taunton.
A funeral service will be at Sullivan Funeral Homes in Hanson, 2 Maquan St., on Sunday May 22 at 1:30pm, with a visitation following from 2-4pm. A celebration of life will be held at Venus 3 in Hanson immediately following at 4:30pm. Casual attire is requested as that was Brian’s style; please wear a favorite concert shirt if you have one.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you do an act of kindness in Brian’s honor.
