Bob was born on September 6th, 1948 and raised in Rockland by his parents, Robert and Helen (Cannaway) Condon. He graduated from Rockland High School in 1966 and Boston State College in 1970. He earned his M.Ed. from Bridgewater State College. He fully committed his life to his family, his career as an educator, and his passion for coaching.
Bob spent 35 memorable years and innumerous hours at Hanover High School where he served as assistant principal, math and computer teacher, math team advisor, student council advisor and coach. He was known for his kind, commanding presence, his appropriate sternness and his ability to give kids the benefit of the doubt. He brought computers to Hanover High, helped bring multiple championships in football and baseball, and helped the student council to be recognized at a national level. His students described him as “a fair and levelheaded man who will always throw a smile your way when it is most needed.” He was typically the first one in the building at the start of the day, and the last one to lock up at night. He tirelessly dedicated much of his life to his students and he proudly retired from HHS in 2005.
He also spent endless hours coaching his three sons in Rockland. He coached youth football, baseball and basketball with limitless commitment. He truly loved seeing kids rise to their potential, and made a lasting impact on many young lives.
In his leisure time he enjoyed playing golf, vacationing in Fort Myers Beach, cruising the Caribbean and Bermuda, spending time on the Cape, watching all sports and later in life, spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob’s family would like to extend their warmest gratitude to the remarkable staff at North River Home Care for providing him comfort and exceptional care in his final years.
