
Robert V. ?Doc? Coveney, 58, of Weymouth, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2006, surrounded by loved ones at the Veteran's Hospital in West Roxbury after a lengthy illness. Doc served his country during the Vietnam Era as a US Navy Corpsman. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his combat tour in Danang Vietnam. Prior to his retirement, Doc was employed for many years as an ultra-sound technician at various hospital and health clinics. A musician, published poet and collector of eclectic works of art. Doc had a reputation as an extraordinary story teller and jokester whose laugh was both infectious and memorable. Last September, Doc reunited and proposed to his long lost girlfriend, Susan Olsen Delmastro. His love for Susan and the fulfillment he felt during their brief time together gave his life a story book ending most wish for but few experience. The son of Barbara Nickerson Strachan of Hingham and the late Robert V. Coveney, Doc is survived by 1 son Brendan Coveney, 2 sisters, Jane Coveney Desaulniers of NH and Linda Strachan Bartlett of Milton, as well as his loving niece, Laura, nephew Bob, Doc's fiance Susan Olsen Delmastro of Halifax and dear friends Joel Coveney and Robin Campion. Funeral Service in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Rte 53 in HANOVER on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Interment in Pembroke Center Cemetery. Visitation on Saturday morning from 10-11 AM.
