Robert F. Kenney, 64 of Pembroke, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife Cheryl (Hoffses) Kenney, his loving son Shaun, wife Patricia and their 2 sons Eamon and Ellis of Raleigh, North Carolina, and his adoring daughter, Jacqueline of Pembroke. Bob was the son of the late James P. and Agnes L. Kenney of Quincy and the brother of the late James P. Kenney, III also of Quincy. He is survived by his mother-in-law Marion Hoffses of Yarmouthport and his best friends, Robert Kamb of Sandwich, MA and Keith Larson of Destin, Florida. He is also survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and many other family and friends.
Bob was a graduate of the Quincy Public Schools and Fitchburg State University where he received both his undergraduate and graduate degree in Industrial Technology Education and Communication/Media respectively. He spent the majority of his career in Hull and Hingham Public Schools as an Industrial Technology teacher and retired from the latter in June of 2020. Bob loved teaching woodworking to middle and high school students of all abilities. On the summer break from school, one would find Bob on the ocean. His passion for boating and fishing was infectious. He was a long-time member of the Quincy Yacht Club and most recently a member of the South Shore Yacht Club of Weymouth. After retirement, he purchased a lobster boat so he could return to his passion and a means to keep busy on a place he loved. Lastly, he unselfishly loved helping out others—whether it be volunteering his time helping out the Veterans in special events at the Quincy Yacht Club, plowing neighbor’s driveways during winter storms, maintaining friends and family’s sprinkler systems, fixing and lending out tools for those who needed it, and helping out at the Yacht Clubs when called upon with no expectation of receiving anything in return.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 2 from 4 - 7 PM at the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington Street, Route 53, Hanover.
