surrounded by his family.
Born in Boston on February 9, 1958, Ronald was the son of the late Ronald D. Lund and Cecelia B. Lund. He graduated from Scituate High School with the Class of 1976, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He later attended Quincy Junior College, earning an associate degree.
Known affectionately as Ronnie, he was an exceptionally talented automotive mechanic. His passion for cars began at a young age while spending time with his grandfather at his gas station, where he learned to repair and rebuild automobiles. That early experience inspired a lifelong love of cars, trucks and mechanical work. Ronnie established and owned the New England Lobster Trap Furniture Company, an accomplishment of which he was very proud. But, his love to his automotive roots drew him back and he founded Ron's Auto Removal and repair, which became one of his greatest passions. He shared his knowledge with his children whom would often be along side Ronnie for a tow call. His youngest daughter, Shaquille, adored her dad teaching her the ins and outs of operating a ramp truck while his oldest daughter, Tasia enjoyed visits at his shop for conversations over coffee.
Before becoming ill, Ronnie spent nearly all his time working on or underneath a car or a truck. When he was not working, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and collecting sports cards, coins, and stamps.
Above all, Ronnie was devoted to his family, friends, and everyone he loved. He was known for his kindness, compassion, strength, determination, and willingness to help anyone whenever he could.
Some of his happiest moments were during Fourth of July weekends, when the entire family gathered together. Ronnie and his son, Ronnie, would spend the weekend setting off fireworks. Nothing brought him greater joy than seeing his family together and making lasting memories with those he loved.
Ronnie took great pride in being a husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Mary (Patterson) Lund of Scituate; his children, Ronald D. Lund III and his wife, Azalea, of Cohasset; Anastasia Elizabeth Raymond and her husband, Robert, of Northborough; and Shaquille Courtney Lund and her fiance, Matthew Tiene, of Scituate. He was predeceased by his cherished daughter, Mary Elinor Charles Lund, who passed away far too young in 1997 and remained the family's guardian angel.
Ronnie is also survived by his four grandchildren, Brooke Madelyn Brennan, Caleb Charles Lund, Freya Lisa Lund, and Cayden Michael Tiene, who were the light of his life. He was the son-in-law of Elinor Patterson of Scituate and the late Charles Patterson. He is also survived by his brothers-and sisters-in-law, Charles Patterson Jr. of Carver, Mark Patterson of Marshfield, Elizabeth Cusack of Brockton, and Claire Carley and Scotty of Kingston. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, David Patterson. Ronnie is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 20th at 11am at St. Mary's of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate, MA 02066.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ronald's memory to Scituate Community Christmas, 125 Mann Lot Road, Scituate, MA 02066.
