Ruth Joyce Roy

Ruth Joyce Roy, 96 of Pembroke, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, on May 12, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Clara (Marshall) Mosher. Ruth was raised in Hanover and graduated from Sylvester High School (Hanover High School) in 1946, where she was the secretary of her class. She worked as a secretary for Jack Conway Insurance for many years.

Ruth was a very strong, independent woman who was determined to stay in her own home. With the love and support of her nieces Deb Jackman and Ellen Robinson and her husband Ken, that was made possible. Ruth’s home was filled with love and happy memories of family gatherings and summer BBQs in her pinegrove. Ruth loved flowers and had a passion for gardening and yard work. She would often be found outdoors enjoying her gardens, watching birds at her feeders, and doing her own yard work, well into her 90s. She also enjoyed trips to Maine and spending time with her family.

Ruth was the loving wife of the late Adelard H. Roy. She is survived by her cherished nieces and nephews, and beloved great nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her siblings Raymond Pottle, Calvin Mosher, Herbert Mosher, Gerald Mosher, Harold Mosher, and Mildred Makinen.

Visiting hours will be held at the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 2 Maquan Street, Corner Route 14&58, Hanson, on Tuesday from 10-12pm with a funeral home service starting at 12pm. Burial to follow at Hanover Center Cemetery.
