

Sandra M. Evans passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on June 2, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. She is survived by her three sisters, Gayle Barstow (Greg) of Arizona, Bobbie Frugoli of Massachusetts and Lauren Burt (Ken) of New Jersey. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Allison Barstow (Jamie MacMurray), Benjamin (Katie Geusz), Gabriel (Katie Nelson), and Aidan St. James, Shannon O'Neal, Josh Burt (Jennifer), Hannah Burt. Also, seven great nieces and nephews and her first cousin, Mary Frugoli. She leaves behind many lifelong friends and those who helped her along this Parkinson's journey.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alice Frugoli and her husband, James Evans. She was born and raised in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1967. She received her BA in Sociology from UMass Amherst and later received her M.Ed in Counseling/Psychology from UMass Boston. Sandy spent most of her career as a Mental Health Case Manager at the Department of Mental Health in Plymouth and her last 10 years of employment was as a Psychiatric Counselor/Case Manager at Pembroke Hospital. After she retired she became a hospice volunteer.
Sandy was an avid reader, enjoyed fine dining, the theatre, travel, golfing, bargello needlepoint, and painting. She was a generous supporter of PBS, NPR, St. Jude, Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Shaggy Dog Rescue as well as other animal shelters. Sandy became very active at 110 Fitness in Rockland MA where they specialize in wellness programs for people with Parkinson's and other disabilities.
Sandy cherished all of her nieces and nephews and was so proud of their accomplishments. Her sound advice was sought after by all and she was a great comfort to many clients, friends and family. Sandy had a loving, giving and kind spirit. She had the ability to make everyone feel special and see their self worth. Sandy never hesitated to let her love shine through everything she did. She was affectionately referred to as The Queen Bee by her sisters, nieces and nephews.
There will be a private viewing for family at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Route 53, Hanover, followed by a Funeral Mass at St Mary's of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Route 139, Hanover at 10:00 am on Thursday June 9, 2022. Sandy will be buried with her husband at Couch Memorial Cemetery in Marshfield.
