Shirley J. Collins

Born October 31st 1935, Shirley grew up in Brookline, Ma  and graduated from Brookline High School. She married the love of her life Richard J Collins Sr. (deceased)   in 1954  and moved to the South shore, living most of her life in Hanover, MA.

Shirley is survived by her 3 Children. Her son Richard Collins Jr.and his wife Judy of Hingham, MA and grandchildren: Ashley, Brittany, Madison, Danny, Shaun and Liam. Daughter Diane Collins and her fiancé David Argentieri of Monroe, NC and grandchildren: Daniel Ardizzoni and Nicholas Scott. And her Son Christopher M. Collins of Hanover, MA.

Shirley Retired from her career as a corporate buyer for Stop & Shop Corporation in 1999, but after only a 4 month retirement she was back working full time again in the Grocery business.

Shirley was a dynamic woman with many passions in her life. She was the “Original Hockey Mom” being married to the man who introduced Youth and High School Hockey to the town of Hanover. She was a lifelong sports fanatic, fervently following the Boston Bruins, The Red Sox, and the Patriots. Shirley knew sports better than most, it was tough to best her in knowledge.  Shirley was an avid reader, follower of politics, and had her letters to the editor of the Boston Globe published more than once over the years.

Shirley loved to travel and visited the British Virgin Islands and many US states and landmarks with her husband Richard. In later years Shirley had the opportunity to visit a great deal of China as well as Paris France with her son Richard’s family.

Shirley was a fantastic Mother, Grandmother and wife. Her energy, intelligence and zeal will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her.
