Susan M. Lanzillotta Owens

Mrs. Susan M. Lanzillotta Owens, 51 of Dighton formerly of Bridgewater and Hanover died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at home after a short illness. She was born in Weymouth on December 10, 1957. She was raised and educated in Hanover and received a Bachelors Degree and Masters from Bridgewater State College. Susan had been employed as a Guidance Counselor at Scituate High School. She was the Co President of the South Shore Guidance Association, a member of the Mass Teachers Association and a member of the Alumni Association at Bridgewater State College. She enjoyed kayaking, was an avid traveler and enjoyed her book club. She was the daughter of Fred Lanzillotta of Hanover and the late Shirley Ewell Lanzillotta. Mother of Michael P. Owens of Jamaica Plain, Melissa R. Benigno of HI and Melanie E. Guiney of Brighton. Grandmother of Alessandra Benigno. Sister of Steven M. Lanzillotta of Hanover and Lt. Col. Paul E. Lanzillotta US Army of Odenton MD. She was the companion of Alan Murphy of Dighton and former wife of Philip "Skip" Owens Jr. of Hanover. Funeral Mass on Thursday at 9 AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St, Rte 139 in Hanover. Interment in Hanover Center Cemetery. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in HANOVER on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
