
Thomas J. McGuinness Sr, 81, of Pembroke died Tuesday, July 9, 2002 in the Southwood Nursing Home in Norwell after a short illness. Son of the late John and Ellen Kelly McGuiness, he was born in South Boston on May 4, 1921. He was raised and educated in Boston and lived in Dorchester until moving to Pembroke 38 years ago. Mr. McGuiness retired in 1976 as a Corrections Officer at the Deer Island House of Correction. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a former Member of the Dorchester Knights of Columbus. Husband of the late Catherine M. Schroeder McGuinness, he is survived by 2 sons, Thomas J. McGuinness Jr. of Middleboro and Paul R. McGuinness of Marshfield, 2 daughters, Catherine M. Sampson of Melrose and Judith A. McGuinness of Pembroke, a sister, Ann Leary of Dorchester, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was the Brother of the late John McGuinness and the late Ellen Connelly. Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 13, 2002 at 9 AM in St. Thecla's Church, 145 Washington Street, Rte 53 in North Pembroke. Interment in Pembroke Center Cemetery. Visiting Hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Rte 53 in Hanover on Friday from 5-8 PM.
