Virginia R. Godfrey

Virginia "Ginny" Rose (DiModica) Godfrey, 78, of Hanover, MA died peacefully on Friday, June 25, 2021. Ginny was born on March 8, 1943, to Emma and Salvatore DiModica and grew up in Dorchester, MA. She graduated from Dorchester High School and worked for many years in the financial services industry in Boston. 

Ginny was predeceased by her sister Emma DiModica and brother James DiModica and her former spouse Leo Godfrey. She was the loving mother of Denyse Carroll and her husband Jeff of Manassas, VA, Duane Godfrey and his wife Julie of Pembroke, MA and Donald Godfrey of Providence, RI. Ginny was proud "Grandma" to Taylor, Madyn and Avery Godfrey and Emma Carroll. She will also be greatly missed by the long-time, devoted love of her life David Blasenak. 

Ginny worked hard her whole life to be able to own her own home and raise her children on her own. She loved days at the beach, lobster dinners, working in her yard, traveling with David and celebrating every birthday and holiday with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was loyal, generous and fiercely independent and was extremely proud of her Sicilian heritage. 

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, June 30, from 4-7 p.m. at the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St, Rte 53 in Hanover, MA.
