Debra Ann Melberg of Pembroke, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in her home on October 22, 2026. Debra was born in Warwick, Rhode Island, to the late Ernest and Edith Hayes. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1973 and went on to attend Nyack College in Nyack, New York. In 1979, she married Frank Melberg, and together they welcomed three children. Following Frank’s passing in 1991, Debra devoted herself to raising their three children, a role she embraced with unwavering love and devotion.
Debra was first and foremost, a mother to Frank, Matthew, and Shayna. Her children were her proudest accomplishment and greatest joy, and she loved them with a boundless, all-encompassing love. That love extended far beyond her immediate family to everyone who walked through her door. Affectionately known as “Debz,” she opened her heart and her home to others, offering a safe haven filled with love, acceptance, and unwavering support to all who needed it.
To Debra, there was no greater gift to her than seeing her children find the love of their lives and create families of their own. She embraced the families they built, and found endless joy in watching their lives unfold. Their happiness was her happiness, and their love was a continuation of the love she had poured into them throughout their lives. Debra was blessed and honored to have eight grandchildren. She cared for each one of them equally and as a whole. She would always talk about how proud she was of Isabella, Sofia, Mackenzie, Finn, Charlotte, Matthew, Dillon, and Nathan. She enjoyed nothing more than simply seeing them laugh and smile together. They will miss her terribly.
Debra had a warm and welcoming personality, an innate ability to connect with others, and a gift for making everyone feel like a friend. The ocean was where Debra found her peace and happiness. She cherished long days at the beach, admiring lighthouses, and taking in the sights and sounds of the coast. Debra had a love for music and singing, and she was always happy when she had a reason to dance. She found joy in the music, laughter, and shared moments that brought people together. She also treasured weekend adventures with her “girls,” whether exploring the latest craft fair or shopping until they dropped. These simple pleasures, shared with the people she loved, were among the many things that made life special to Debra.
The memory of Debra will be cherished by her children, Frank Melberg and his wife, Kyla, of North Hampton, New Hampshire; Matthew Melberg and his wife, Amy, of Hanson, Massachusetts; and Shayna Cleary and her husband, Matthew, of Bridgewater, Massachusetts; her cherished grandchildren; her brother, Patrick Hayes; extended family and many dear friends.
Thank you kindly, Mom. We love you more.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Visitation in the Sullivan Funeral Home 2 Maquan St. (Cor. Rte 14&58) Hanson, MA on Thurs Oct 29, from 4 -7 PM.
