

Edmund John DeAbreu passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 16th of 1933 in Gloucester Massachusetts, Edmund lived a life defined by devotion to his family, hard work, kindness, humor, and a deep love of the sea.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Alice Lorraine DeAbreu. He was a proud and loving father to his three daughters: Linda Ford and her husband Dan, Laura Piccirilli and her husband Rob, and Amy Crawford and her husband Gary.
Edmund cherished his role as a grandfather and held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and their spouses: Abigal, Shawn, Mark, Matthew, Allie, Patrick and Elsa, Austin and Elizabeth, Adam and Rachel. He was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Finn and Ella Ford.
Edmund honorably served his country in the United States in the Navy from November 1951 to November 1959. He later dedicated many years of service to the town of Halifax. Working at Halifax Elementary School and serving as a firefighter and rescue diver with the Halifax Fire department.
Following his retirement, Edmund and his family opened Ther Grapevine Florist, a business that reflected his love for family and the community.
Edmund will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and the legacy of kindness and strength he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30th at 10am at Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan St. (Corner of Routes 14 & 58), Hanson, with a funeral home service at 12pm
