Frederick Charles Williams

Fred was the beloved husband of Anna Marie “Nancy” Williams. He was the loving father of Nancy Williams of Hanson, Frederick Williams, Jr. and his wife Allison of Squantum, and Sandra Harkins and her husband Kevin of Halifax. He was also the adoring Grampy to Sean Harkins and his wife Elicia of Quincy, Kaylan Harkins of Halifax, and Abigail Williams of Squantum.

He loved spending time with all his family and never missed his children’s or grandchildren’s games, recitals, band performances, or competitions. You could always hear his loud cheers through the crowd. He was so proud of all his children and grandchildren. Fred enjoyed driving his children and their friends to all their many activities and adventures as he loved to listen to all their “non-stop” chatter and laughter. His grandchildren were special to him. He was the backup whenever life happened. He especially enjoyed his yearly Christmas shopping spree with them; helping them proudly pick out presents for their parents and choosing which flavor of fudge to buy.

Fred served in the Army and was stationed in Korea. He returned to Fort Holabird in Baltimore, MD and then moved back to Jamaica Plain. Fred was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and earned his bachelor's degree at Northeastern University. Fred worked for many years as an accountant at the Sheraton Corporation and played catcher for the company’s softball team. Fred finished his long career in accounting at the Credit Union League of Massachusetts.

Fred and Nancy enjoyed many adventures in their RV after they retired. They traveled from coast to coast, into Canada, Alaska, and Mexico. Fred also enjoyed having the greenest lawn on the street. As Fred’s illness progressed, he found solace in watching nature, particularly the wide variety of birds, from their back patio and kitchen table window.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, July 14, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sullivan Funeral Home, located at 814 Indian Head St., Hanson. A private burial at the National Cemetery in Bourne will follow at a later date. The family will have a celebration of life on Sunday, July 26th, at 201 Cross Street, Hanson, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. All family and friends are invited to attend. Please share your funny stories and, in true Fred fashion, feel free to wear a silly t-shirt. Fred was always stopped so people could read his shirts. They always made others smile.
