Delbert Gangwer, 99, of Leo, Indiana passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026. He was born on October 5, 1926, in Kimmell, Indiana, a son of the late John and Thella (Sparta) Gangwer. Delbert served in the U.S. Army and later in the Air Force during the Korean War. He later went on to have a successful career as a federal meat inspector. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Cromwell. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf and fishing.
Surviving family include his wife, Doris Gangwer; daughters, Deborah (John) Taylor and Dawn Juif; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and a brother, Delvin Gangwer. Besides his parents, Delbert was preceded in passing by his son-in-law, Michael Juif; and 10 siblings.
A funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, 17629 State Road 37, Harlan, Indiana, with visitation one hour prior.
