Pauline A. Nelson

Pauline (Polly) Adaline Stickney Nelson, age 86, went home to her Lord Jesus on September 18, 2020. Born July 9, 1934, Flint, MI, she lived her last days eager to join her husband, Robert Lionel Nelson, Sr., at the feet of Jesus. Her husband of 50 years, Bob, went home on January 22, 2006. Her favorite scriptures were Proverbs 3:5:-6: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.” Her favorite books of the Bible were 1st, 2nd and 3rd John. Pauline loved the Lord with her heart and soul as well as all those who touched her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert L. Nelson, Sr., infant son, Rodney Lionel Nelson, parents, Leon and Mary Ann (Gill) Stickney, a sister, Viola (Wayne) Finley and a brother, Lesley (Sylvia) Stickney. She attended Messiah College (Academy), Grantham, PA. Pauline was a proud and supportive minister’s wife. She also raised her family and worked for over 25 years as an Avon representative. She is survived by her four children, Julaine Nelson, Christoval, TX, Paula (David) Atchley, Sr., Woodburn, IN, Robert, Jr. (Lori) Nelson, New Haven, IN and Rod (Karen) Nelson, Woodburn, IN, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two nieces and many wonderful friends throughout the United States. Viewing will be at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, 17629 IN-37, Harlan, IN 46743 on Thursday, September 24 from 5 to 8pm. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25 at Harlan Church of Christ, with viewing one hour prior to service. Grandson, Evangelist David Atchley, Jr., will officiate. Burial at Harlan Memorial Cemetery, Harlan, IN. Preferred memorials to Woodburn Christian Children’s Home and Heartland Hospice Care.
