Thomas E. Bates, 71, of Auburn, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022 at his residence. He was born on September 21, 1950 in Portland, Indiana to the late John and Norma (Wright) Bates. Tom married Ruby “Diane” Stevenson. Mr. Bates worked as an Automotive Detailer. He enjoyed Nascar, and racing Motorcycles. Tom is survived by his wife, Ruby “Diane” Bates; children, Tom (Tresha) Bates, Tony (Jen) Bates, and Tim (Meredith) Bates; numerous grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sandy (Terry) Smith. Also preceding him in death were siblings, John, Dave, Cindy, and Melony. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hockemeyer Funeral Home, 17629 SR-37, Harlan, Indiana 46743.
