

Francisco (Frank) Serna, 99, passed away on September 27, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Frank was born to Pedro Serna and Juanita Rodriguez Serna in Harlingen, Texas. He was a World War II Veteran and received a purple heart for his service to this country. Frank was a man of service who dedicated his time to the VFW, American Legion, and the G.I. Forum. He was one of the founders of the M&M Society in Chicago. He also Volunteered at Audie Murphy Hospital in San Antolnio, Texas and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his son, Jose Francio (Frank) Serna, of Chicago, Illinois; his grandchildren Gabrielle Marie Kohn and Jeffrey Francis Serna; a great-granddaughter Brynleigh Rose Kohn; his step-son Joe Francis Banks, Jr.; a brother Heraclio R. Serna. He was preceded in death by his brothers Pedro Serna and Arturo Serna; and sisters Petra Plata and Juanita Najar.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 3 p.m., until 6 p.m., at Funeraria del Angel. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 2, at 2 p.m., at Combes Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
