

Kazuko Taira Trevino, age 84 of Harlingen, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2017, at Valley Baptist Hospital. She was born to the late Hokama Taira and Tsure Senmatru on October 13, 1932, in Motobo, Okinawa.
Kazuko grow-up in Okinawa during a time occupation, war, and survival. These trying times allowed her to become a strong person both emotional and physically. Family and friends were Kazuko’s passion and delight. She was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart and was always giving to others. Kazuko loved working in her garden growing vegetables, planting flowers and caring for her beloved orchards.
Kazuko was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 40 years and served as President of Post 205 Lady Auxiliary in Harlingen, Texas. Always wanting to help military veterans.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 33 years, Guadalupe (Wally) Trevino in 2000. Kazuko is survived by her son, Wally Trevino, daughter-in-law Kyo Gonzalez, grandson Kenzo Trevino, sister Suemi Kato, brothers Nobu Hito Taira and numerous loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin today, Friday, February 24, 2017, at 4 p.m., and will continue until 9 p.m., with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at 7p.m., at Funeraria del Angel. A chapel service will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, February 25, with entombment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Honored to be serving as Mrs. Trevino’s pallbearers will be Tomas R. Bald, Richard Barrios, Tomas J. Moreno, Rodney Cantu, Ricardo Antonio Hernandez, Jr., M.D., and Rolando Lopez.
