Lupe G. Lopez

Guadalupe “Lupe” A. (Garcia) Lopez, 76, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 25, 2011 in Harlingen, Texas. Mrs. Lopez was born in Brownsville, Texas on May 8, 1935. She married Sotero on June 25, 1952. They lived together in Texas before relocating to Illinois in 1958. It was there that her family began expanding and she settled into working and raising her children. After 33 years, she retired from Borg-Warner Automotive. Soon after she and Sotero retired to Harlingen, Texas, she would spend her time crafting, keeping up with her children and grandchildren, and continuing to be the matriarch to her loving family.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Maria Cordova; her brothers, Valente Garcia, Guadalupe Garcia; and her grandson, Nathaniel Lopez.

She is survived by her husband, Sotero Lopez; her children, Sotero (San Juana) Lopez, Jr., Alejandra (Leo) Garza, Guadalupe Lopez, Peter Lopez; and her grandchildren, Alexia, Sotero III, Chance, Anjanette, Leo Anthony, Corrine, Lorraine, Gabrielle, and Peter Jr. She is also survived by her great-grandchildrn, Samantha, Steve, Isabella, Giuseppe, Angel, Sotero IV, Tiana, Myah, Liam, Aiden, Bianca, Makayla, Alayna; her brothers, Teodoro (Yvonne) Garcia, Prudencio Cordova; and her sister, Maria Anita Jimenez.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel in Harlingen, Texas. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas.
