Sotero P. Lopez

Harlingen, Texas - Sotero Lopez, Sr., 78, went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2012 in South Chicago Hts, Illinois surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on April 22, 1934. Sotero married Guadalupe Garcia on June 25, 1952. They moved to Illinois, and after 33 years he retired from Thrall Car Mfg. They then relocated to Harlingen, Texas where he enjoyed gardening, golfing and spending time with his wife, family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe "Lupe" Lopez; brothers, Atanacio, Bernard ; his sister, Anita, and his grandson, Nathaniel Lopez.

Mr. Lopez is survived by his children, Sotero (San Juana) Lopez, Jr., Alejandra (Leo) Garza, Guadalupe Lopez, Peter Lopez; his grandchildren, Alexia, Sotero III, Chance, Anjanette, Leo Anthony, Corrine, Lorraine, Gabrielle, and Peter Jr.; 14 great-grandchildren and a brother, Natividad Lopez.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel in Harlingen, Texas. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas.
