Coyte David York

He was born March 28, 1938, in Iredell County and was the son of the late James Coyte and Claudia Wilkins York. He retired from Farm Service Center in Hamptonville after 30 years of service. He worked with Robert Wisecarver Trucking in Mocksville for 1 year prior to his disability.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine H. York; a son, David Young York; and a niece, Tammy Crater.

He is survived by a son, Calvin (Lisa) York of Union Grove; two daughters, Wanda Kaye H. Matthews (Mike McCollum) of Yadkinville and Wanda Jean York of Salem, VA; two sisters, Shirlene York Mullis of Troutman and Kathy York (Lexyie) Pope of Statesville; a very dear and special friend, Brenda Stokes of Elkin; five granddaughters; 8 great-grandchildren; and several cousins, aunts and nieces.

Family and friends will be celebrating David’s life at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Tomlin officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
