

Jackie Wayne Grant, 67, of Harmony, died June 13, 2016 following a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. He was born March 11, 1949 in Iredell County, youngest son of the late Fred Kenneth and Martha Trivette Grant. At age 12, he began working with his parents, Fred and Martha at the Harmony Dairy Freez, until Fred's health forced them to close.
More recently he worked for the Town of Harmony and he always counted it a privilege. Earlier this year he was honored with 'Jack Grant Day' by the Town of Harmony and Mayor Joyce Rogers. He enjoyed being a part of the July 4th celebration. He loved people and they loved him back. He had many dear friends with which he enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being together. These friends were so devoted to him during his illness.
Jackie is survived by a brother, Ken Grant and his wife Lounell, Nieces; Tamera Wright and husband Don, Carmel Norman and husband Willie and great niece Ayla Stevenson and great nephew Grant Stevenson. Also surviving is a significate other, Tina Bracken and her daughter Kristina, to whom Jackie was a father figure. He is also survived by several cousins who were very important to him.
Services celebrating Jackie's life are scheduled for Friday, June 17, at Winthrop Friends Meeting at 4 p.m. with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Wooten and Mr. Alec Grant will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
