

She was born September 11, 1946 in Iredell County. At the age of 5 years old, she was mascot for LeVerne Goodwin Sloan at Central School in Iredell County.
After attending East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN, she was an elementary teach in the Iredell County School System. Subsequent to teaching she entered the legal field in Texas in 1971 as a legal secretary and continued the same in Iredell County upon her return in 1981, completing a 30 year career.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Henry Royal Kennedy and her mother, Hazel Daniels Kennedy.
Surviving are her husband, James Lee Padgett; daughter, Tammy Padgett Markland; son, Jamie Lee Padgett (Lisa) and son, Christopher Steven Padgett (Nicole); two granddaughters, Loryn and Jenny; six grandsons, Rhyan, Tucker, Dustin, Wesley, Jacob and Hunter and one great-granddaughter, Braylie.
She is further survived by her brother, Max Kennedy (Judy Anne); a niece, Melissa Fowler (Greg); nephew, William Scott Kennedy; one great-niece and one great-nephew.
The family will visit with friends, Monday, July 25, 2016 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Ernest M. Troutman Memorial Chapel in Harmony.
The service celebrating Judy’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Gwantney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
