Leonard Dale Goodwin

Leonard Dale Goodwin, 64 years old of Harmony passed away on January 25, 2016. Born in Statesville, Leonard has been a life-long resident of Iredell County. Mr. Goodwin proudly served his country during the Viet Nam War in the US Army. He retired after 20+ years from Dana Corporation in Statesville as a Manufacturing Engineer. Leonard was an excellent woodworker, making furniture for family and friends and flag cases for veterans.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Imogene (Dickens) Goodwin and his sister-in-law, Carmen Goodwin.

Leonard is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Nancy (Cleary) Goodwin; his son, Christopher "Todd" Goodwin and Melissa Baity of Harmony; his daughter, Tabatha Essex and husband Kris of Winston-Salem; his brothers, Larry Goodwin and wife Linda of Statesville, Dwight Goodwin and wife Sheila of Statesville and Keith Goodwin of Sophia, NC; his sister, Carolyn Reavis and husband Kenneth of Yankinville, NC; his granddaughter and his “little sugar”, Kiley Essex as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Goodwin family will receive family and friends on Thursday January 28, 2016 at Rock Springs Baptist Church, 509 Rock Springs Rd., Harmony from 2-3pm with the funeral service starting at 3pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
