He was born March 7, 1957, in Iredell County and was the son of Lorene Wyatt and the late Roscoe David Wyatt. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his loving wife and soulmate of nineteen years, Teresa Jane Johnson Wyatt. Mayford and Teresa symbolized what a family should be through their illustration of love for one another.
Mayford is survived by his two sons, Jason Kenneth Wyatt (Madison), and Terry Edward Johnson (Amy); daughter, Angela Robin Wyatt Wooten (Joshua); two grandchildren, Meredith Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson; sister, Marlene Jacobson (Marc); and two brothers, Milton Jolly (Marie), and Mevis Jolly (Kathy). There are many loving nieces and nephews as well.
He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he enjoyed the fellowship of his brothers and sisters in Christ. Mayford bared resemblance to the bible verse Philippians 4:11 “…for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am therewith to be content.” Mayford remained content even though his physical health had declined, as he found his strength in the Lord. He accepted life as it was, never complained nor questioned God. He found peace and happiness in his marriage, family, and everything that encompassed him. Fellow employees of Haldex Barnes Corporation revealed his devoted, and committed work ethic through his twenty plus years of employment. His hobbies included woodworking, playing with his dog, Sam, and enjoyed most anything outdoors. Mayford was a veteran who felt honored to serve in the United States Army. He was not only an honorable man, but a humble man who found satisfaction in doing good deeds for others. He gave generously, wholeheartedly, and never expected anything in return. Mayford was a loyal friend to many, and will be deeply missed.
