Richard Edward Shoffner

He was a born February 6, 1927, in Yadkin County, and was the son of the late Martin Columbus and Emma Southers Shoffner. Mr. Shoffner was retired from the lumber industry and was a farmer.

On December 16, 1949, he married Lucille Ireland who preceded him in death on March 22, 1993. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Stella Cheek and Samantha Gray; and a brother, Hubert Shoffner.

He is survived by two sons, Roy Richard Shoffner (Diane) of Harmony and Troy Filmore Shoffner of Mocksville; three brothers, James and Bill Shoffner of Mocksville and Jerry Shoffner of Statesville; a sister, Barbara Powell of Mocksville; three grandchildren, Angie Shoffner of Harmony, Shannon Shoffner of Mocksville and Corri Shoffner of Winston-Salem; three great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Nannie Sue Ireland of Mocksville.

Funeral services celebrating Mr. Shoffner's life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Rock Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Hedgecock and the Rev. Billy Manners officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7:00 to 8:30 PM Monday in the Ernest N. Troutman Memorial Chapel of Reavis Funeral Home of Harmony.
