He was born December 10, 1935, in Alamance County and was the son of the late Roy and Mary E. Dollar Davis. He worked many years as a sewing machine mechanic with Piedmont Garments and was a member of Saddle Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Independence, VA. He enjoyed fishing, turkey shoots, playing games and playing cards, especially poker.
He was preceded in death on September 7, 2007, by his wife, Laura Wood Davis, whom he married on June 12, 1954; a sister, Katie Walter and her husband, Floyd; two brothers, C.V. Davis and R.G. Davis and his wife, Gladys; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Vaughn.
He is survived by four children, Ted (Kim) Davis of Love Valley, Nancy (David) Wooten of Lone Hickory, David (Donna) Davis and Robert (Donna) Davis, both of Harmony; a sister, Helen Vaughn of Robbins, NC; a sister-in-law, Virginia Davis; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM this evening (Thursday, February 21) at Reavis Funeral Home of Harmony, and at other times will be at the home of Robert Davis, 613 Mt. Bethel Road, Harmony.
Funeral service celebrating Tom’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 22, 2013, in the Ernest Troutman Memorial Chapel of Reavis Funeral Home of Harmony with the Rev. Curtis Hash officiating. Burial will follow at Saddle Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Independence, VA, with the Rev. Bob Cheek officiating.
Marshall Wooten, Eugene Wooten, Shannon Wooten, Junior Bobbitt, Adam Bost, and Brian Davis will serve as pallbearers.
