Vivian Elizabeth Sherrill Dickens

Born in Iredell County on July 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Robert B. Sherrill and Ada Marie Reavis Sherrill.

Mrs. Dickens worked as a seamstress at Monaleigh Garment Company and was a member of Rock Spring Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Edward Dickens, whom she married in May 1942. He passed away May 1993. She is also preceded by two sons, Robert Lee Dickens and Jason Clark Dickens; one son-in-law, Perry Campbell; one daughter-in-law, Sue Ellen Anderson Dickens and her brother, Roy L. Sherrill.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Jerry Wayne Dickens and wife Lisa of Mocksville; her daughter, Sheila Campbell of Harmony; daughter-in-law, Diane Dickens of Yadkinville; five grandchildren, Chris Dickens, Robin Beck and husband David, Jeremiah Campbell, Joanna Campbell and Rebecca Dickens and husband Sid; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Rock Spring Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Steve Hedgecock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Dickens, Jeremiah Campbell, David Beck, Larry Goodwin, Dwight Goodwin and Leroy Overcash.
