

Mr. William Thomas Jones, Jr., 72, of 284 Kinder Rd. Harmony, died Saturday August 23rd at his home. Born in Iredell County on January 5, 1943, he was a son of the late William Thomas Jones, Sr. and Fannie Lou Anthony Jones. Mr. Jones was a truck driver for Gordon Iron & Metal and loved playing his banjo. He was listed in the Guinness World Record Book and the Blue Ridge Hall Of Fame for his accomplishments with the banjo. He also managed the Flying Eagles who played at Love Valley often.
On July 16, 1965 he married the former Emma Diane Scronce who survives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Sue Jones, two brothers, Roy Lee Jones and Ted Melvin Jones and three sisters, JoAnn Jones, Fannie Mae Burns and Sally Mitchell.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William Thomas Jones, III., (Wilma Lee) of Harmony and Jessie Lee Jones(Kimberly) of Olin, a daughter, Fannie Lou Jones, II., (Kenny Luther) of Greensboro and a grandson he and Mrs. Jones raised, Dustin William Anderson of Greensboro, along with 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also suirviving is a sister, Linda Sue Martin of Denton, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
Family services will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 this evening (Tuesday) at the home of William Thomas Jones, III., at 437 Rabbit Hwy. Harmony.
