
Arrangements under the direction of Neill Funeral Home, Harrisburg, PA.Alden L. “Pap” Day, 92, of Chambers Hill, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011 in the Spring Creek Nursing Home. He was the son of the late Peter and Margaret Yetter Day and the widower of Betty A. Day.
He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, Steelton and was a WWII Army Veteran. He retired from the George W. Weaver and Sons Moving Company, Steelton. After retirement he worked for the Weiss Market at Swatara Square. He was a member of the Chambers Hill Fire Co., Steelton Fire Dept., the Fireman’s Relief Association and the Steelton American Legion. Alden enjoyed watching Nascar, Penn State Football, Phillies Baseball and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter Betty A. Bivens, Chambers Hill, his son, Alden L. Day Jr., husband of Susan, of Enhaut, 4 grandchildren, Michelle Books, Anthony (Dana) Bivens, Christine (Daniel) Wooddell and Amy (Paul) Yoder, 5 great-grandchildren, Joe, Tony, Katie, Norah and Alex, 3 brothers, Paul, Robert and Brother Joseph.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses, aids and staff at Spring Creek and to the Hospice of Central Pennsylvania.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111 with a viewing 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin.
