Anna, also known as Ann, was born on February 11, 1929, in Elizabethtown, PA. She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Edna (Enterline) Hollinger. Ann joins Daniel S. Kauffman, her husband of 55 years and who preceded her in death in 2018, to now be with their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ann devoted her life to praying for her family and others, while also keeping up with all the concerns and events surrounding her two children, 10 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Despite her loss of vision over the past couple years, her mind was sharp, and her love for Jesus grew stronger with each passing day. She lived in an attitude of thankfulness, with a confident hope of what’s to come, as God sustained her and gave her peace.
Upon graduation from Mount Joy High School in 1947, Ann worked as a secretary for Henry G. Carpenter, Inc./Mount Joy Mutual Insurance Company for 15 years. She also enjoyed teaching Sunday school, singing in a girl’s trio, and singing in a quartet with her brothers, Jay, Paul, and Harold at West Green Tree Church of the Brethren in Elizabethtown, PA.
Years later, Ann and Daniel, also known as Dan, met on a blind date and were married in 1962 at the same West Green Tree Church. Ann worked as a secretary for Macro Enterprises, Inc., Dan’s truck wash business, for 15 years when their two children, Bonita Sue and Douglas Dean, were in elementary, middle, and high school, and college.
In their retirement years, Ann and Dan combined their love to travel with Dan’s entrepreneur-like mindset. Together they produced and assembled wind chimes, which they sold and delivered to farm, home and garden type stores and businesses all over the U.S, as they traveled in their RV.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Smith of Forest, VA; son, Doug (Christy) Kauffman of Apple Valley, MN; ten grandchildren: Hunter Smith, Shelby Smith, Colton Smith, Caleb Kauffman, Eli Kauffman, Jonah Kauffman, Ethan Kauffman, Kelsi (Austin) Warner, Danielle (Steve) Nevitt, Lucy Miller; and five great grandchildren. In addition to Ann’s husband, Dan, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, Jay Hollinger of Warsaw, IN, Paul Hollinger of Mount Joy, PA, Harold Hollinger of Mount Joy, PA, and James Hollinger of Lady Lake, FL.
Ann’s Celebration of Life service will be held at West Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 740 Greentree Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in the West Green Tree Church Cemetery, and a reception will follow at the church. The family will receive guests at a viewing at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service.
