Anthony J. Sansone

Anthony J. "Tony" Sansone, "Jumbo," 91, of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital. He was born July 10, 1927 in Harrisburg; he was the son of the late Matteo and Lena (Pusateri) Sansone; and preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years and mother of his children, Orpha I. Sansone. Also preceded in death his second wife of 18 years, Marcie Roeting Sansone; brothers, Augustus A. Sansone and Joseph Sansone; sister, Rosaline DeMarco; and granddaughter, Leah Sansone. Surviving are 2 sons, Matthew A. Sansone, of Dauphin and Antonio J. Sansone (Jerri), of Clark, WY; 4 daughters, Linda Marie Pugliese (Robert), Constance Sansone, Christine Sansone and Mary Jo Lispi, all of Harrisburg; 2 sisters, Augustine Antelitano, of Harrisburg and Adele Famularo, of Saco, ME; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, William Roeting, (Diane), Nancy Ludwig (George), Jill Roeting-Thornton and Dave Roeting (Nancy); and several nieces and nephews. Tony was owner of The Harrisburg Banana and Fruit Co. Following his retirement in 1972, he remained active in the produce business by helping out long-time friends at M & S Distributing Co and Mercurio Brothers. He was a William Penn High School graduate, class of 1945 and a founding member of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church. He was a faithful member of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel at St. Margaret Mary since 1996. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday, March 1, 2019 at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church, 2800 Paxton Church Rd., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. A viewing will be held at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Margaret Mary's Building Fund, 2800 Paxton Church Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
