She was born November 12, 1923, in Brunswick, Maine, to the late Fred and Bertha (Brown) Baldwin, marking the beginning of a beautiful life, touching generations and inspiring all who knew her.
Barbara poured her heart into her community, sharing her passions and fostering growth in those who partook. Barbara was a devout member of the Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, worshipping as part of the Gospel Messengers SS Class and sharing her faith as a Sunday School teacher. Barbara was also a dedicated Red Cross Water Safety Instructor who adored teaching the many children in the community to swim. She proudly served as the neighborhood chairman and as a Girl Scout leader of 17 years. In her professional pursuits, Barbara retired from Agway as a personal secretary.
Barbara was profoundly talented, participating in a multitude of hobbies. She is perpetually cherished, but especially with every encounter of her favorite things and abundant creations. She enjoyed knitting sweaters, wool socks and mittens, as well as crocheting baby sweaters, booties, and dish cloths. Barbara was a beautiful seamstress, creating darling prom gowns and party dresses. She was an artist, skilled at ceramics and painting with oils. She was an avid reader and bowler. Her joy was baking cream puffs, cookies, and whoopie pies with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.. She enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie of her close friends at card club. It’s likely you could catch Barbara doing a little jig, she absolutely loved to dance. Notably, Barbara loved the beauty of God’s woodlands and the rockbound coast of Maine.
Barbara’s personality was larger than life. Anyone who knew Barb knew she was a force to be reckoned with, robed with wit, adorned with a stylish wardrobe, and characterized by her intelligence, independence, strength, and creativity.
She is survived by her daughter, Ronda Engle (Robert), her son, Robert L. Enders, Jr. (Jeanie), her grandson, Brett Billow, her granddaughter, Amy Rimmer (Alan), her great grandchildren, Sydney and Aiden Rimmer, her three step grandchildren, and her seven step great grandchildren. She as preceded in death by her soulmate of 67 years, Robert Enders. We are certain she is sharing a dance with him now.
There are no words to express or properly thank the wonderful, dedicated, loving, and compassionate management and staff at The Middletown Home who cared so deeply for her and our family.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 29, 2025 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am, at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111, and officiated by Pastor Dan Gilbert, on Thursday, May 29, 2025. A private burial will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, her wish was for contributions to be made in her honor to the Middletown Home, 999 W. Harrisburg Pike, Middletown, PA 17057.
