Fred Hawke, Jr. and Ruth Irene (Knepp) Hawke. She was married to her high school sweetheart, C. Kenneth Myers, on December 27, 1954 in a military wedding at the Lewistown Presbyterian Church.
Barbara graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1950 and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in 1954. She was a Registered Nurse having worked at the Lewistown Hospital and the Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital. Barbara was a 52 year member of Paxton Presbyterian Church in Paxtang, where she had served as a Deacon. She was a long-time member of the choir, where she frequently sang as soloist.
Barbara was a wonderful and devoted wife to her husband, and a loving, caring mother to her two children, David R. Myers and Ann Elizabeth Myers, wife of Scott Sutton. Barbara loved life. She especially enjoyed watching three granddaughters grow from infants into beautiful, accomplished, young women. She loved her home and was an excellent homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and even enjoyed cutting the grass with the garden tractor. She loved traveling including a honeymoon trip to California; also trips to Barbados and Antigua, West Indies; annual trips to Avalon, NJ; many trips to New York with friends to see Broadway shows; and many trips to her hometown of Lewistown to visit with family and friends. She loved the many evenings spent having dinner and playing Bridge with friends. And, of course, she loved her faithful cocker spaniel, Glory.
Surviving in addition to her husband and two children are one grandson, Cody Sutton; three granddaughters, Andrea Elizabeth Myers-Stephen (Jason), Caitlin Rose McCarty (Matteson) and Christine Anne Myer (Justin) and three great-grandchildren.
