Bernard Dean Nardis

Bernard "Dean" Nardis, 95, of Harrisburg, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Lebanon VA Hospital. Born October 26, 1922 in Clarksburg, Indiana County, PA; he was the son of the late Pietro and Maria Antonia (Pezzuti) Nardis; and preceded in death by his wife, Jane Barbara (Butler) Nardis; 2 sisters, Anna Zamberlan and Nora Lazaro, and 2 brothers, Samuel and Robert Nardis. Surviving are 4 sons, Dean (Bethe), of Belleville, Don (Nancy), of Mechanicsburg, Dan (Eileen), and Dave of Harrisburg; 9 grandchildren, Dave, Daryl, Dawn Marie, Anthony, April, Jason, Cory, Dea and Jana; 5 great-grandchildren, Dayne, Dakota, Robert, Paige and Wyatt; and a sister, Jean Foster of Fort Myers, FL. He retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad, was a US Army Sgt veteran of WW2, where he served in the Philippines, and received the Bronze Star. He studied at Indiana Univ of PA prior to the war. He was a member of Paxton Presbyterian Church for 63 years and was the past president of the Swatara Twp. Junior High School PTA. Dean was a generous and loving person who enjoyed spending time with his family, and always thought of others before himself. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 2, 2018 at Paxton Presbyterian Church, 3500 Sharon Street, Harrisburg. Burial will be a Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM Friday until the service at the church.
