

Born Bella Lena Chiara, she was the daughter of John and Lena Chiara. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence L. Hummel, and by her brother, Joseph Chiara.
Betty was a loving wife, a caring mother, and always had a warm smile and a big hug for everyone around her. She had a very special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She graduated from John Harris High School, class of 1944, was a legal secretary for many years, and concluded her career at the Bureau of Purchasing in the PA Department of General Services. She was an avid 9-holer at the former Colonial Country Club, an avid Penn State fan, and made friends wherever she went.
She is survived by her three children: son Jerome Mannix, and wife Martha, of Paxtang; daughter Anita and husband Michael Weekes, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; and daughter Pamela and husband Thomas Beauduy, of New Cumberland.
She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren: Meghann and husband Joseph Barrios, Layla Barrios and Julian Barrios, all of Norristown; Bethany Mannix, of Conshohocken; Ashley and husband Joseph Flowers, and Elizabeth Flowers, all of Glade Valley, North Carolina; Amanda Weekes, of Morrisville, North Carolina; Wade Weekes, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; Adrienne Beauduy, of New Cumberland, and Marisa Beauduy, of New York, NY.
Visitation will be from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday, March 16, 2015 in Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St, Harrisburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St, Harrisburg. Burial will be in Paxtang Cemetery.
