Betty M. Michaels

Betty M. Michaels, 88, of Harrisburg, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in Frey Village, Middletown. She was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Marie Snyder Hand and the widow of Lloyd O. Michaels.

Betty was a Navy Veteran of WWII, a member of Progress Immanuel Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed antiquing, gardening, bingo and loved spending time with her family. She was the perfect grandmother.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Denise Appleby, of Oberlin and Tammy Flegal, wife of Tim, of Hummelstown; one son, Richard Appleby, husband of Beth, of Harrisburg; 4 grandchildren, Samara Jeanne, Andrew, Kacey and Jessica; 2 step grandchildren, Christopher and Kelly; 4 great grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Harold R. Hand. She was predeceased by a brother Dr. Robert Hand.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111 with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be private in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Harrisburg, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111
