Derek Adam Haines

He was born December 4, 1981 in Harrisburg; he was the much loved son of Terry R. and Yvonne C. (Houser) Haines, of Harrisburg. Also surviving are a daughter, Makayliah Haines, Sister Lara Gunnett (John), nieces Kaitlyn and Ashley Gunnett, and brother Brandon Haines. Also survived by his fiancé Erica Barzyk, his paternal Grandmother Janet Harriman and his maternal Grandparents Elwood and Elaine Houser, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Derek was a graduate of Central Dauphin High School , class of 2000; He was currently a self-employed landscaper, who also loved to be “Mr. Fixit”, always the first to volunteer to help anyone get anything done when he wasn’t restoring his project 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA.

Derek was known for his love of animals. He loved his precious cats almost as much as his daughter Makayliah. He was also known as “Uncle Due” to his friend’s children.

Derek loved fishing and gardening, his knowledge of music and movies was amazing, he loved to read. He loved working out at the gym, running, and spending time with his family especially at the beach.

A viewing will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 10:00 AM until Noon with a short service to follow.

Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens
