A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he left a legacy of honor, love and devotion to his family. Don was preceded in death by his loving wife, Yolanda Viani LeVan, his parents, Ruth N. and Howard A. LeVan, Jr., and his dear son, Donald R. LeVan, Jr.; and (step-sister) Gretchen Williams (Ken).
He is survived by daughters, Marie LeVan Lick, and Lisa Painter (Jeff), grandsons, Andrew L. Lick (Melanie) Johnny Marsh (Breana) and Matthew Marsh; great grandchildren, Madeleine Lick, Kayden, Parker, and Peyton Marsh; and (step-great grandson) Anthony Logan; (step-sisters) Gail Remsburg (Mike); Wenda Plowman (John); Janet Dicks; and (step-brother) James Stoner; and generations of nieces and nephews.
Don was a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for Urban Planning and Rutgers University for Engineering Management. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War and World War II. Don was the Owner and President of LeVan Inc. Consulting Engineers, which served the Harrisburg area for over 45 years and he served as a member of the Dauphin County Board of View for 50 years. Throughout his professional career, he was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Philadelphia Engineers Club, American Congress of Surveying and Mapping and the American Water Works Association. He was an active member of the local community and served as a Board Member of the Rotary Club of Harrisburg, Capital Area Transit Authority, The Harrisburg Hospital and Juvenile Diabetes Association. Don was the Past President of The Tuesday Club of Harrisburg and served on the Board of Governors of the Country Club of Harrisburg.
Throughout his life, Don was an avid golfer and enjoyed family trips to the Chesapeake Bay and the gulf coast of Florida. A man of faith, he was a founding member of St. Catherine Laboure Parish and served on the Board of Trustees of The Knights of the Columbus.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Ecumenical Retirement Center and Lifesong Hospice for their loving care and support.
Mass and Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 8th, at St. Catherine Laboure Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Wednesday at the church until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine Laboure Parish.
